We also have a best decks tier list for LoR and an agent tier list for Valorant.

Methodology TLDR:

  • Our first tier list aimed at lower ELO, specifically Bronze up to high Plat/low Diamond. Our second tier list is for high ELO, aimed at Diamond 2 and above.
  • Our experts curate these picks and are an indicator of the champion’s inherent strength when played at the highest level. For many of the user base, this information isn’t super relevant for their games but provides invaluable insight into the game itself.

Let’s say you’re debating between learning and climbing with Jax (A-tier | Simple) or Rengar (A-tier | Severe) – you’re going to want to go with Jax. Why? This is because Jax has a lower skill floor and would require less games to play at an A-Tier level in solo Queue. If you tried to pick up Rengar, you wouldn’t get the full value of A-tier until after about 15 matches of practice whereas with Jax, you would get that full 15 every time you play him.

Expert pick commentary

LoL Tier List feature example

Top – Mordekaiser

  • Mordekaiser has been terrorizing low elo lobbies for most of this season but now that you can no longer QSS his ultimate, he’s going to be even hard to counter!
  • Morde can turn into an absolute raid boss once he gets ahead and can easily take down multiple enemies by himself with his Ultimate, allowing him to carry games without too much trouble.

Jungle – Rek’Sai

  • Rek’Sai is currently one of the best junglers you can play in the majority of ranks, boasting an impressive win rate across the board.
  • She’s got unconventional gank paths, bypassing wards with her tunnels and can easily run away with games once she gets ahead in the early game.
  • Rek’Sai is surprisingly durable and deals some solid damage too, making her a consistent and powerful pick in most team comps!

Mid – Diana

  • Diana is popping off in the mid lane right now after her buffs a few patches ago. She’s got solid early damage, strong trading power, waveclear and fantastic all-in potential too, and then one she gets out of the lane phase, her Ultimate can destroy entire teams in a matter of seconds!
  • Whether you stomp the lane phase or not, Diana is a seriously scary pick to play, so give her a go if you haven’t already!

Bottom – Jhin

  • Jhin has received some bing buffs to his Q this week which puts him back into a great position.
  • He’s not had the most incredible season so far but he has been a little underrated, especially in the right matchups and drafts, and with these buffs in 14.8, it could be time for him to prove he’s not to be underestimated.

Support – Janna

  • Janna has been one of the best supports you can play all season so far at every single rank and this doesn’t look like stopping any time soon.
  • She has all the tools she needs to fit into any team comp comfortably, with her utility, buffs, boots, peel and protection!
  • Janna is relatively easy to play but her impact in Solo Queue is undeniable, so if you haven’t already been playing her, give her a go.

Top – Camille

  • Camille has been one of the best top lane picks to play recently and especially so at higher ranks.
  • She’s got everything she needs to outplay her enemies against all the odds, with mobility, CC, burst, and of course her Ultimate allowing her to isolate and shut down enemy carries easily!
  • She still does have a few famously difficult matchups, but in the right games, she’s pretty much free LP!

Jungle – Nidalee

  • Nidalee remains one of the most powerful solo carry junglers to pick in high elo, with the best players knowing just how OP she can be in the right hands.
  • She is all about snowballing the early game with aggressive ganks and invades, and once she’s got a lead under her belt she can dive around the map, one shotting squishies with those spears and huge cougar bites too.
  • Nidalee is the definition of a high risk high reward jungler, so if that’s your thing, give her a go!

Mid – Hwei

  • Hwei has been performing super well at high ranks recently, with his super versatile kit and tons of ways to win all sorts of fights and situations against the odds.
  • He’s already been a fantastic pick in the right hands so far this season, but now he’s received a few buffs to his passive and QQ which means he’s only going to get even stronger!
  • Hwei packs HUGE amounts of AoE damage, long range artillery, CC, utility and more, so if you know how to combine all of this to play him perfectly, there’s not many that are better!

Bottom – Draven

  • Draven is still an absolute machine in high elo with the best ADC players being able to stomp all sorts of games with him so far this season.
  • He recieved a minor buff this week to his Q’s damage, and for a champion who’s already been popping off in the right hands, he’s going to become that little bit more punishing to come up against.
  • Draven is ALL about those fine margins, if he gets the kills before he dies to cash in on his passive, all of a sudden he will snowball games insanely fast.

Support – Thresh

  • Thresh is back in those top tiers after getting a few buffs this patch just before MSI kicks off!
  • Thresh has always famously been one of the most entertaining supports to watch and to play and he has been a little bit overshadowed recently by the enchanter meta!
  • He is a playmaking support with a super creative kit and tons of ways to outplay his enemies and save his allies, so with these changes, it’s the perfect time to pick him back up again

Disclaimer #1: If a champion isn’t on our LoL Tier List, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t climb with them. You’ll just have to put in more effort to get similar results as our Optimal, Great, and Good choices for climbing.
Disclaimer #2: This list is meant to evaluate the champions that we believe are best for climbing Solo Queue. Although there can certainly be some overlap, we are NOT looking to name the champions that are the best in pro-play or organized, competitive 5-on-5. This is why champs that require a ton of team coordination such as Ryze, may not be included or ranked highly.

As always, we welcome all discussion and feedback.
